‘AI for Space’ leader, Antaris, targets growth in Japan

AI satellite platform leader Antaris has appointed international business development consultancy Intralink to support its expansion into Japan.

Antaris has developed an AI-powered platform called Antaris IntelligenceTM which simplifies the design, simulation, manufacturing and operation of satellites. Its advanced technology is rapidly being adopted by US Department of War agencies, as well as many US defense contractors including Lockheed Martin.

Intralink is a business development consultancy that helps companies to secure customers, partners and investors in overseas markets. It has a presence in 27 locations including Silicon Valley, Boston, Tokyo, Shanghai, Seoul, Taipei, Bangkok, Jakarta and New Delhi.

Given the current geopolitical environment, one of the fastest-growing and most important areas of space technology is the development of Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR) constellations. These networks of satellites work together to observe the Earth and deliver persistent, near-real-time situational awareness. Increasingly regarded as critical infrastructure for defense and national security, these systems are attracting a growing share of the sector’s investment and driving critical technology innovation.

Antaris’ AI-driven technology significantly reduces satellite development timelines while improving mission planning and operational readiness. By enabling faster, simpler and more cost-effective mission execution, the platform is particularly well-suited to organizations developing ISR constellations.

Antaris has already secured a significant ISR contract for a major Southeast Asian nation. It also recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Saudi-based SARsatX to support the development of a 16-satellite ISR constellation to meet Saudi Arabian sovereign demand and serve the broader Gulf region.

As Antaris continues its international expansion, Japan is a natural next step. The country is investing heavily in space and defense technologies and maintains a robust satellite manufacturing base, including major players such as MELCO and NEC.

Expanding into Japan will enable Antaris to tap into this significant market and position its platform for use in major ISR and commercial projects worldwide. The company is also committed to bi-directional trade by encouraging inward foreign direct investment to support existing and new space ecosystem players, as well as enabling export markets and sales.

Intralink’s team on the ground in Tokyo is launching a business development program for Antaris, beginning with the identification and prioritization of commercial opportunities in Japan’s space sector. This will be followed by targeted engagement with satellite operators, manufacturers and other partners and customers.

Antaris CEO and Co-Founder, Tom Barton, said: “Japan is already one of the world’s most important space markets and is making major investments in satellite-based ISR and communications capabilities.

“Intralink’s Tokyo team has deep relationships across the Japanese defense and commercial satellite sectors. The team’s expertise and local presence will be essential as we bring the Antaris Intelligence platform to Japan and support the next wave of ISR and commercial space programs.

“Having been to Japan more than 40 times, I have a long-standing personal interest in the Japanese marketplace and in supporting this important effort.”
