Avanti Communications and GISS launch first accredited Ka-band satcom terminal

Avanti Communications has become the first Ka-band network to have been accredited on the Global Infrastructure & Security Solutions (“GISS”) ManPack Cobalt terminal.

After successful testing on 23rd October 2023, Avanti is now able to offer more flexible and cost-effective communications-on-the-pause (COTP) solutions for government, military and enterprise customers across EMEA.

The GISS ManPack Cobalt terminal, developed and built in Poland, offers an innovative, portable and fully modular VSAT system to provide flexibility and reliability in the most demanding applications including military mobility, crisis response and disaster relief.

The new partnership will provide Avanti customers with another option to deliver efficient, high-speed data and practical, reliable communications.

Avanti has a long history supporting government and defence customers and is a trusted provider of Satellite Communications to US, UK and global government agencies. The company’s fleet of four HYLAS Ka-band satellites offer 50GHz capacity and cover more than 1.7 billion people in 118 countries.

Since 2018, GISS has been the primary supplier of VSAT terminals for the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland.

Andrzej Puścian, CEO at GISS, said: “The flexible design of our ManPack Cobalt terminal allows it to be adapted to the end-user’s specific needs. We are delighted to be able to offer Avanti another way to provide the best possible service to its customers in Europe and beyond.”

Donald Walker, Senior Vice President of Government and Defence at Avanti, added: “We know that the needs of each of our customers are different, so we are committed to offering the widest range of solutions. This latest partnership with GISS will provide another way to deploy immediate and reliable connectivity in the most critical of situations.”
