DSEI Japan has announced that rapid acquisition and development as well as rapid deployment, in the defence sector will form the seminar themes for the 2023 event, set to take place 15-17 March 2023, in Makuhari Messe, Tokyo.
The current and future operating environment will be revolutionised by the increasing new challenges that are changing the trajectory of traditional warfare. Closer collaboration can increase the speed and quality of procurement processes to ensure that available capabilities meet the rapidly changing needs of Japan’s defence sector.
The Rapid Acquisition Process (RAP) provides rapid transition funding for the development and fielding of highly successful competitive experiments and demonstrations. By driving rapid delivery, threat-informed, concept-driven, technology-enabled, policy-aware, resource-aligned and evidence-based capabilities can support readiness in shorter timeframes. The main conference themes for DSEI Japan will be announced in due course.

DSEI Japan brings together the international defence and security community to explore the relationship between foreign policy, military capability and developments in key emerging technologies, and their impact on security in the Indo-Pacific. DSEI Japan will take place against the backdrop of Japan and Australia bolstering military ties and intelligence sharing in a revamped security pact aimed at countering China’s growing military presence in the Asia Pacific region.
National export capabilities will also be in focus, with official international pavilions from Israel, France, Germany, USA, Canada, Italy, Australia and the United Kingdom, among others.
