Filtronic wins prestigious King’s Award for enterprise

Filtronic has been named a recipient of the King's Award for Enterprise 2024, the United Kingdom's most prestigious honour for businesses and entrepreneurs.

The King's Awards for Enterprise, which date back to 1965, aim to promote excellence in great British organisations. The awards were formerly known as the Queen's Awards for Enterprise until the accession of King Charles III to the throne last year. Winning organisations can use the King's Award emblem for the next five years as a mark of the highest distinction.

"We are incredibly honoured to receive the King's Award for Enterprise, which recognises our team's relentless commitment to innovation, quality, and operational excellence," said Richard Gibbs, CEO of Filtronic. "This award is a testament to our pioneering work in RF technology that enables the future of RF and mmWave communications."

Filtronic was selected for the King's Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category for its groundbreaking work on electronic systems used for long range wireless communications in mission critical environments such as telecommunications, private networks and space. Filtronic's pioneering work in the development of its Cerus 32 E-band Solid State Power Amplifier (SSPA) is now extensively used in low earth orbit (LEO) satellite communications networks, including SpaceX's Starlink™ constellation.

"The King's Award for Enterprise is one of the most revered institutional honours bestowed upon British businesses," added Gibbs. "This award highlights our team's world-class engineering prowess and our dedication to developing advanced RF technologies that are shaping the future of wireless communications."
