NSSLGlobal launches hands-free crane radio solution to boost safety and efficiency during crane operations

NSSLGlobal has launched its new hands-free Crane Radio solution. With nearly six decades of maritime expertise NSSLGlobal has developed the Crane Radio Unit to meet customer and industry needs. Purpose-built to enhance safety by ensuring shipboard crane operators can maintain constant communication with vessel crews and loading-point workers.

The versatile, fully CE-marked solution, is designed for demanding crane environments with hand-free communication needs, such as cable laying vessels where communication over radio and loud hailer can be critical during emergencies and safe daily use.

NSSLGlobal’s new Crane Radio directly addresses critical industry demands for safer cargo handling. Ship to Shore (STS) crane operators work in hazardous environments and deal with high levels of physical and mental fatigue, while operating dangerous equipment in elevated, enclosed cabins often for long shifts. Miscommunication especially with blind spots during deep-hold loading is responsible for many onboard injuries.

The system introduces hands-free communication by providing foot pedals, enabling crane operators to use the VHF radio and a high-powered loud hailer seamlessly and safely. Therefore, allowing operators to maintain uninterrupted, simultaneous communication with deck crews and loading points without needing to take their hands off the crane controls.

The NSSLGlobal Crane Radio solution provides unparalleled reliability and is simple to use, with a straightforward interface, backlit red display and plug-and-play connections. The system is waterproof to IPx6 and IPx8, and housed in an IP66 enclosure, with large controls suited to use in demanding environments.

The device can be mounted internally and externally. The solution also comes with the option of passive, noise-cancelling headset cabling, enabling deployment across a range of positions and configurations dependent on customer requirement. Whilst also being supported by NSSLGlobal’s 24/7 global network.
