Global specialist satellite engineering company, ETL Systems, has received purchase orders totalling over US$830,000 from a major US Government and Defense contractor in Colorado in the Western USA.
The contractor, who had previously worked with ETL, selected the UK-based RF engineering company for their solutioneering approach and their historic ability to meet strict technical compliances.
The orders included ETL’s HAV-80 Havoc RF matrix, configured to 96 x 160 inputs/outputs, a new-to-market product that will be officially launched at IBC in December 2021. They also required custom design and engineering to configure three of ETL’s established Hurricane HUR-10 matrices to be operated alongside the company’s external Genus Modular L-band combiners as part of a bespoke combining matrix solution.
The flexibility of the Hurricane extended L-band matrices, coupled with the density of the Havoc matrix and Genus modular system, allowed the three 64 x 64 combining matrix systems and one 256 x 256 capacity distributive matrix to be housed within one 42U chassis. This allowed the contractor to achieve significant savings on rack space and maximize efficiency.
Bill Pryle, Government RF Consultant at ETL Systems, commented: “We worked closely with the RF engineering team to design a switch matrix system that exactly met the customer’s RF signal routing requirements. I am delighted they have chosen the Havoc, which will be at the heart of their RF system for many years. The Hurricane and Genus modular combining solution will give them added flexibility.”
