Virgin Orbit National Systems welcomes Major General Kim Crider to the board

Virgin Orbit welcomes Maj. Gen. Kim Crider as the newest board member to its wholly owned subsidiary engaged with national security organizations in the United States and its allies, Virgin Orbit National Systems.

Virgin Orbit National Systems, formerly known as VOX Space, is a US-incorporated subsidiary of Virgin Orbit that provides the US national security community and allied nations with responsive, dedicated and affordable launch services for small satellites bound for Low Earth Orbit. The appointment of Crider brings the board to three total members, all of whom having been leaders in national security space and former USAF Major Generals.

“We are very pleased to welcome such a distinguished leader as Kim Crider to the Virgin Orbit family and to The Virgin Orbit National Systems Board,” said Dan Hart, Virgin Orbit CEO. “We look forward to working together and gaining the benefit of her experience and insights as we continue to support the vital missions of the national security space community at this critical time.”

“We're excited Kim Crider is joining our board. She's a recognized subject matter expert and thought leader across military and commercial space, cyber, and data security services. Together with our current Board members, Craig Cooning and Susan Maskiko, she'll help us accelerate our objective to be a vital and trusted mission partner to the National Security community,” President of Virgin Orbit National Systems, Mark Baird, said.

Crider brings many years of experience as a leader and member of the United States Air Force. She served on active duty for eight years and as a reservist for more than 27 years. Her prior work includes Chief Technology Innovation Officer for the United States Space Force and Chief Data Officer for the United States Air Force.

During her time in the Air Force, Crider was awarded several major awards and decorations, including a Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Meritorious Service Medal with five oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters and an Air Force Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster. She received her bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Duke University and holds a graduate certification in organizational behavior from Harvard University.
