Speedcast International Limited has expanded its contract with Airbus, one of the world's largest defence contractors, to include a partnership in the Philippines. "We are proud to expand our service agreement with Airbus into this new region," said Andrew Burdall, Executive Vice President, Enterprise & Emerging Markets, Speedcast. "The extension is a testament to the hard work and dedication the Speedcast and Airbus teams have put into creating a trusted partnership." With this extended contract, Speedcast will work with Airbus to build relationships and partnerships with local agencies. It will also provide X-band communications in the Philippines region. X-band is a secure communications frequency predominantly used by military and government agencies. As one of the only service providers with the security clearance to sell X-band, and with the only approved station for the Skynet constellation in the Asia-Pacific region located at Speedcast's teleport facility in Adelaide, Australia, Speedcast has become a major channel partner for Airbus in a number of countries across the Asia-Pacific region. Richard Franklin, Head of Secure Communications at Airbus, said: "It is a really positive step to further increase our relationship with Speedcast, to allow countries to benefit from the unique capabilities of the Skynet fleet."
