AQST Space Systems relocates to Mesa, Arizona

Satellite Evolution

AQST

AQST Space Systems (AQST), a new and growing Aerospace and Defense business that supports space commercialization, recently moved its headquarters to Mesa, Arizona. The company will be hiring up to 125 people and is seeking 20,000 square feet of manufacturing space, where it will begin producing, assembling and delivering rockets for small satellites by the end of this year. Target customers include innovative defense organizations, satellite owners and operators, and universities that seek to send constellations of small satellites and other systems into space. The company’s project was set to start in Puerto Rico earlier this year. Despite a desire to stay on the island, hurricane-related infrastructure deficits made it cost prohibitive for the company to perform sensitive defense manufacturing activities there, according to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Arnaldo Soto, Jr. Instead, AQST has established its headquarters at Falcon Field. Soto hopes to subcontract work back to Puerto Rico in the future. Despite the challenging circumstances of AQST’s relocation, “Arizona has been very welcoming and good to us,” said Soto. “We especially like the collaboration exhibited by the aerospace and tech business community, access to the universities, and availability of highly qualified veteran workforce.” [if !supportLineBreakNewLine] [endif]
