Rikei Corporation and UHP Networks achieve milestone in satellite broadcast networks in Japan
Rikei Corporation (Rikei), a leading Japanese system integrator and solutions provider, and UHP Networks Inc. (UHP), a Canadian manufacturer of advanced VSAT systems, have announced that they have reached an important milestone in the roll-out of advanced VSAT solutions in Japan. The partners have installed their 100th remote terminal in the Japanese VSAT networks for broadcast and news gathering applications. These networks are operated by several leading media organizations throughout the country.
The Rikei/UHP solution is tailored for critical applications with high Quality of Service (QoS) as required in the Japanese market. The solution benefits from the high-availability and low-latency afforded by the UHP Hubless Mesh MF-TDMA network architecture. In addition, each remote station can instantaneously switch profile and transmit high-throughput DVB carrier in emergency mode if needed. The system has a high bandwidth efficiency due to a remarkably low TDMA overhead (4%), fast frequency hopping across multiple carriers and 5% spectrum roll-off.
Hiro Koganemaru, Head of Transmission and Distribution System Sales Department at Rikei, commented “We are very pleased to reach this important milestone. The system is now fully field-proven and provides excellent performance in networks operated by the leading providers of broadcast services in Japan. The UHP modem is software-defined and can transmit any waveform from MF-TDMA Mesh and Star to DVB. The modem’s very compact size and low power consumption made it possible for us to integrate it in portable flat-panel VSAT terminals.”
Vagan Shakhgildian, CEO of UHP Networks, added: “In the six years that we have been working with Rikei Corporation, they have proven to be a very reliable partner. The Rikei team is known for engineering excellence and in-depth understanding of customer requirements. Together with Rikei we have customized the cutting-edge UHP VSAT technology to the requirements of the Japanese broadcast networks.”
