Paradigm's agile and versatile PIM integrating the UHP-200 modem

Paradigm's agile and versatile PIM integrating the UHP-200 modem

Co-operation between Paradigm and UHP is demonstrated by the integration of the UHP-200 modem into Paradigm’s field-proven PIM®. The PIM is an easy-to-use, environmentally rugged terminal controller which enables mobile satellite terminals to be pointed and optimised quickly by non-technical users.

The PIM supports the UHP-200 modem, providing impressively high data rates on a range of high throughput satellites utilising UHP-based networks. Operations using Paradigm’s ‘internet-in-a-backpack’ SWARM® terminal have delivered IP data rates exceeding 20Mbps duplex.

The PIM is designed by Paradigm to provide a common level of operation to all satellite terminals. Its technical agility and versatility allows it to be integrated with all types of satcom terminals and modem technologies; so other terminal manufacturers can, and do, use it as the brain of their system, to further standardise the process of satellite communication.

The integration of the UHP-200 with the PIM gives customers’ access to UHP-based satellite networks via Paradigm’s range of high-performance multiband terminals including the lightweight, rugged and ultra-portable SWARM, the HORNET flyaway terminal, the Communications on the Move (COTM) solution MANTA®, and the cost-effective CONNECT100T tripod terminal.

Paradigm and UHP will exhibit together at the CommunicAsia show from 18-20 June in Singapore. UHP’s stand (1R1-01) will showcase the back-packable SWARM terminal.

“As an established provider of end-to-end solutions to address the evolving requirements of network providers, we are always looking to form new partnerships with other industry leaders,” said Ulf Sandberg, Managing Director at Paradigm. “UHP’s modem board provides immense flexibility and tailored services to our customers,

powering a range of applications from mobile Internet access, video/audio streaming and emergency response right through to defence and military applications.”

Vagan Shakhgildian, President at UHP Networks commented “We are very pleased to partner with Paradigm, a recognized leader in advanced multiband VSAT terminals and high-performance system solutions. Their family of satellite terminals fits well with the UHP-200 satellite router, which combines 190,000 packet per second IP data throughput with small size and low power consumption.”
