Aurora Propulsion Technologies completes its first Handover of the "Aurora Resistojet One" engine module to Foresail 1 satellite of the “Foresail” Program.
"I'm very proud of the Aurora team that managed to design build and deliver this first "Aurora Resistojet One" (ARO) Thruster system in just five months" says Aurora's CTO Perttu Yli-Opas.
Professor Jaan Praks of Aalto University, the person in charge of the satellite integration in the Foresail Program was extremely pleased and thrilled about the first ever Finnish satellite propulsion system, and brought up how uniquely historical that moment was in Finnish space industry.
Aurora Propulsion Technologies’ mission is to ensure clean and debris free space, whilst prolonging the useful lifespan of satellites, reducing the need to renew satellites as often as before. The long-term mission goal is to restart deep space exploration with microsatellite-sized probes using revolutionary means of propulsion, an electric sail.
Foresail is the Finnish National scientific space program, supported by the Finnish Academy of Sciences.
