AST SpaceMobile expands manufacturing footprint in both Texas and Florida

AST SpaceMobile has announced the addition of two new manufacturing sites in Texas and Florida, as it continues to expand its operations. The company now employs more than 1,800 professionals, the majority based at its West Texas headquarters.

This growth underscores AST SpaceMobile’s long-standing commitment to advancing American space innovation and leadership while expanding US jobs. Texas, the company’s primary manufacturing hub, is now home to five facilities, including a new site in Midland, where AST SpaceMobile builds its highly sophisticated BlueBird satellites from raw materials to finished spacecraft, supported by 3,800 US patents and patent-pending claims. Complementing this Texas footprint is the company’s Maryland location, as well as a newly added facility in Homestead, Florida, which increases production capacity and extends AST SpaceMobile’s presence into another business-friendly state.

The company is 95% vertically integrated, with all major manufacturing processes kept under US control. AST SpaceMobile continues to make significant investment in expanding US facilities, advancing manufacturing and working capabilities, a foundation that enables continued growth and leadership in space-based cellular broadband connectivity.

“Our roots are firmly in Texas, and always will be,” said Abel Avellan, Founder, Chairman and CEO of AST SpaceMobile. “As we accelerate production of our next-generation BlueBird satellites, the expansion allows us to increase capacity, strengthen our supply chain, and bring even more high-technology manufacturing work back to the United States. This is about building more satellites, faster - and doing it right here at home so we can deliver on our mission to close the connectivity gaps and deliver cellular broadband where it is needed the most.”

AST SpaceMobile’s next-generation BlueBird satellites feature the most advanced cellular broadband communications technologies for low Earth orbit, including the largest phased-array antennas ever built - at 2,400 square feet, custom power systems, and the proprietary AST5000 ASIC, designed to deliver up to 10 times the bandwidth capacity of the BlueBird satellites in orbit today, enabling peak data transmission speeds up to 120 Mbps, supporting voice, broadband data, and video applications. Producing these spacecrafts at scale requires deep vertical integration, specialized tooling, secure U.S.-based manufacturing lines, and the ingenuity of the company’s world-class engineers whose expertise makes this level of technological achievement possible.

AST SpaceMobile continues to work alongside its US strategic partners, including AT&T, Verizon, American Tower, and Google, to deploy a global satellite network capable of delivering cellular broadband connectivity directly to everyday smartphones.
