Azercosmos completes second “Space for Women” Mentorship Program

The second edition of the three-month “Space for Women” Mentorship Program organized by Azercosmos, was successful completed.
The program reflects Azerbaijan’s commitment to fostering gender equality, advancing STEM education, and expanding women’s participation in the global space community. During the programs, qualified experts and mentors underscored the critical role of women in shaping the future of space exploration and innovation, emphasizing the need for initiatives that bridge the gender gap in science and technology.
This year’s program attracted 138 applications from 15 cities, including international submissions, out of which 10 outstanding participants were selected. Each mentee received one-on-one mentorship from five experienced professionals working in diverse areas of the space sector, aimed at supporting their career and professional development goals.
Mentors include:
Natavan Hasanova, Strategy and Business Development Director, the Space Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan
Ramatha Sørensen, Program manager, OIP Space Instruments
Nancy Vermeulen, An airline pilot, Coach and Founder of Space Training Academy
Milica Milošev, Founder and Executive Director of Econnects Association
Ksenia Ozkok - An entrepreneur and personal branding advisor in space, Founder of BluDot
During the program participants:
Engaged in one-on-one mentorship with five experienced space professionals,
Attended over 20 sessions, events and webinars on topics including International Space Grants, Space Innovations, Analog Missions, Satellite Communications, and Earth Observation.
Participated as volunteers at the Space Technology Conference (STC2025), gaining event experience and industry exposure
Visited Azercosmos’ Main Ground Control Station, gaining first-hand experience in satellite operations.
The “Space for Women” Mentorship Program continues to build a pipeline of female talent in the space industry, supporting Azerbaijan’s vision of becoming an active contributor to global space initiatives.
