Eutelsat has announced an expansion of its capacity agreement with EuroSkyPark, a German specialist in secure communications for critical infrastructure, to support Amprion, one of Germany’s largest electricity transmission system operators.

The expansion extends satellite connectivity from Amprion’s onshore substations across Germany to its North Sea offshore infrastructure, highlighting the demand for resilient communications across critical energy networks. EUTELSAT 10B’s flexible, scalable GEO capacity enables EuroSkyPark to connect additional sites while providing redundancy independent of terrestrial infrastructure.

Combining Eutelsat’s satellite capacity with EuroSkyPark’s expertise in dedicated communications networks, the solution supports essential links between energy assets and grid control operations. It builds on the companies’ established relationship spanning GEO and OneWeb LEO connectivity, enabling EuroSkyPark to address both primary and backup communications needs.

Pascal Fallet, Vice President for Connectivity, Europe commented: “Our expanded partnership with EuroSkyPark demonstrates the essential role of satellite in connecting and supporting critical infrastructure. For energy operators, an independent communications link provides vital redundancy when terrestrial connections are disrupted. EUTELSAT 10B brings the reliability, coverage and flexibility to support these requirements and scale as their networks develop.”

Thomas Maul, CEO of EuroSkyPark, added: “Energy operators need reliable communications tailored to the demands of their infrastructure. Our partnership with Eutelsat enables us to design and operate dedicated networks that meet these requirements, providing an independent connection between critical sites and control centres.”
