Ground Control is collaborating with Ambrey, the global maritime security and operational intelligence company, to provide ships with greater defence against targeted GPS disruption with RockFLEET Assured.
RockFLEET Assured is an assured positioning, navigation and timing (A-PNT) solution designed to support vessel operations in environments affected by GPS denial, jamming, and spoofing.
At a time when disruption to GNSS is becoming an increasingly material risk to global shipping, Ground Control is leading the delivery of resilient, assured vessel tracking capabilities that enable shipowners and fleet managers to maintain trusted navigation and oversight in high-risk regions.
Addressing a Growing Operational Challenge
Shipping companies are facing mounting operational risks linked to GPS denial conditions. Incidents of jamming and spoofing are now widespread across key trade routes — including the Baltic and Black Seas, the Arabian Gulf, and the Straits of Hormuz — impacting navigation accuracy, crew safety, and cargo security.
These disruptions can result in collisions, groundings, and loss of situational awareness, creating both safety-of-life concerns and significant economic exposure. As such, the need for robust, independent positioning solutions has never been more urgent.
RockFLEET Assured
RockFLEET Assured delivers authenticated positioning data and integrity-aware reporting, built on Ground Control’s expertise in satellite connectivity and engineering. The solution integrates an Iridium PNT module, enabling assured positioning workflows even in degraded or denied GNSS environments.
Featuring a rugged, marine-grade smart antenna and two-way satellite messaging, the system allows crews and shore-based teams to validate vessel positions, detect anomalies, and maintain operational continuity.
Ambrey will integrate RockFLEET Assured into its maritime risk management services, extending Ground Control’s assured positioning capabilities to a global client base.
Always-On Connectivity, Backed by Maritime Expertise
Ground Control’s assured connectivity is complemented by Ambrey’s 24/7 Global Operations Centre (GOC) in Southampton, which delivers continuous monitoring and operational support.
The partnership ensures reliable, “always-on” vessel tracking and communication that safeguards seafarers, cargo, and operations worldwide.
Alastair Macleod, CEO of Ground Control, said: “GNSS disruption is no longer a niche concern, it’s a practical challenge for commercial fleets operating in high-risk regions.
“By working with Ambrey, we’re bringing a straightforward, reliable solution to market that enables ship and shore teams to validate position, detect anomalies, and maintain trusted oversight when GNSS can’t be relied upon.”
Ben Westcott, Director of Digital Services at Ambrey, added: “Our customers consistently highlight GPS-denied environments as a major operational and safety concern. We are delighted to be working with Ground Control, a leader in assured positioning, to bring enhanced tracking and navigation capabilities to our clients.”
