MMA Design -- under a contract with DSO National Laboratories, Singapore – delivered a deployable, membrane-based space antenna for NeuSAR, Singapore’s first synthetic aperture radar (SAR) observation mission.
The NeuSAR mission successfully launched on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 2032 hours SGT from the Second Launch Pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, India aboard an Indian Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLVC53).
MMA’s patented next-generation DaHGR – Deployable High-Gain Reflectarray – Antenna, leveraged from flight heritage and high-TRL elements developed on previous US programs and missions including DARPA’s R3D2 mission, successfully deployed post-launch on July 4, 2022. NeuSAR is now conducting in-orbit imaging.
NeuSAR serves as a pathfinder mission to explore the commercialization of a small satellite SAR constellation. Successfully deployed from a small satellite, MMA’s DaHGR antenna architecture of NeuSAR is providing high quality SAR imagery of Earth’s surface day and night, in all weather conditions, without the typical limitations of lighting and cloud cover of optical imaging satellites.
