The test campaign of the Prometheus® reusable engine reached a major milestone on Friday, June 20, with a successful test including four successive ignitions on the test bench at ArianeGroup's Vernon site. This demonstration of reigniting a 100-tonne reusable throttleable engine, like Prometheus, marks a unique capability in Europe.
Conducting multiple firing tests in a single day represents a significant advancement in the engine's development. It also showcases the technical expertise of ArianeGroup's teams in managing this complex implementation process.
Development testing continues based on a 'test and learn' approach — reflecting the pioneering spirit of the Prometheus® program.
