SatVu brings thermal intelligence to the US through partnership with America’s mapping leader

SatVu has signed a multi-year partnership with Sanborn Map Company, Inc. (Sanborn), one of America’s most established geospatial solutions providers. The alliance integrates SatVu’s advanced thermal infrared data into Sanborn’s suite of mapping and analytical services, delivering operational intelligence to government, infrastructure, and commercial customers across the United States.

Founded in 1866, Sanborn brings almost 160 years of mapping expertise, serving agencies, utilities, and enterprises nationwide. Through this partnership, Sanborn customers gain access to SatVu’s thermal data at up to 3.5 metres ground sample distance - enabling day-and-night monitoring and revealing heat patterns that other satellites cannot detect.

The collaboration unlocks a broad spectrum of applications for thermal intelligence across multiple sectors.

In urban environments, the partnership enables detailed parcel-level heat mapping that supports energy efficiency programmes and climate adaptation planning. As cities face rising temperatures and more frequent extreme heat events, this capability gives planners and policymakers the data they need to target interventions and build long-term resilience.

For industrial monitoring, SatVu’s thermal intelligence enhances Sanborn’s ability to deliver operational insights across manufacturing facilities, energy infrastructure, and other critical assets. By revealing patterns of activity and energy loss that are invisible to conventional satellite imagery, the technology supports efficiency gains, strengthens security monitoring, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements - even in low-light or low-visibility conditions.

Environmental applications include temperature-based analysis for soil moisture monitoring, agricultural planning, and environmental change detection. The ability to detect subtle temperature variations provides decision-makers with a more complete picture of environmental shifts, supporting sustainable resource management and informed, timely responses to emerging risks.

Anthony Baker, CEO and Founder, SatVu: "Sanborn’s legacy and trusted relationships make them the ideal partner to scale thermal intelligence in the US. Together, we can equip decision-makers with the operational data they need - from climate resilience to infrastructure security - where thermal signatures are the missing piece."

John Copple, CEO of The Sanborn Map Company Inc: "Sanborn has always been at the forefront of bringing innovative geospatial capabilities to our clients, partnering with SatVu allows us to extend that legacy by delivering thermal intelligence that provides critical layers of insight regarding the heat signatures of our client’s infrastructure and the impact of mitigation measures.  This partnership ensures our customers have access to high-resolution thermal imagery that has never before been available at this scale."

As SatVu expands its constellation of thermal imaging satellites, this partnership creates a direct, proven route to market for delivering real-time, actionable thermal intelligence at scale across North America.

With thermal data delivered in near real-time, SatVu and Sanborn will help public and private sector clients reduce risk, improve resilience, and respond faster to emerging challenges.
