AstroAgency, one of the fastest growing companies operating in the UK’s commercial space sector, has landed a contract with the UK Space Agency to support the next generation of space businesses and entrepreneurs.
The partnership is part of the UK Space Agency Accelerator and Business Support Programme to support the growth of the space sector through enabling start-up ventures to better commercialise their technology and plan their promotional activity.
The first phase of the initiative supported 31 firms, resulting in £900,000 being raised through equity funding and grants, as well as directly creating new jobs.
Known as the “LEO programme”, the initiative is run by the UK Space Agency and Entrepreneurial Spark, with the current phase designed to provide 20 businesses with the tools to grow their business and maximise potential.
AstroAgency, a strategic space marketing and intelligence firm with 25 staff headquartered in Edinburgh, has been tasked with advising the current intake of businesses on 3-core areas focusing on market prioritisation, user-centered design approach and commercial considerations for space products and services.
Daniel Smith, founder of AstroAgency, said: “This initiative has an important role to play in growing the UK’s space sector, one of the country’s fastest growing industries and delivering a wide range of benefits not just to the economy, but also to the environment, academia and society as a whole.
“We’re thrilled to have landed the contract to provide support to exciting and innovative space start-ups across the country as part of the current intake of the LEO Programme, following on from our work last year with the UK Space Agency around Regional Cluster Development and also helping shape the UKSA Ignite Space conference.”
AstroAgency will work with the UK Space Agency and Entrepreneurial Spark to deliver a series of workshops covering topics including business vision, market prioritisation, user-centered design, commercial consideration, and many more with aim to maximize their potential within the sector.
Colin Baldwin, Head of Local Growth at the UK Space Agency, said: “There has never been a better time to start and grow a space business in the UK, with support networks, funding opportunities and advice available across the country.
“AstroAgency has a fantastic track record of supporting space companies, and we’ll be working closely together to help even more businesses grow within the UK’s booming space sector.”
AstroAgency creates and amplifies messaging from private and public sector organisations operating in space or looking to move into the sector, with a unique combination of strategic marketing support, brand building techniques, space media coverage, detailed technical knowledge and all-important market intelligence.
The firm is helping businesses – many that may not perceive themselves as space firms yet – to realise their potential and offerings for the sector.
The company is currently looking to hire additional team members, both in the UK and overseas, to support a growing client list that has exceeded 30 public and private organisations working in the global space sector. Headquartered in Edinburgh, AstroAgency’s rapid growth and diverse remote team is based in key strategic locations, including London, Milan and Paris.
