Marlink has upgraded connectivity and cyber security solutions onboard 22 vessels operated by Tankerska Plovidba and Atlantska Plovidba.
As a critical pillar in Marlink’s possibility portfolio, the Sealink NextGen hybrid network solution will support the company’s transition to fully digitalised shipping operations, enhancing safety and efficiency while enabling high quality crew communications. Tankerska Plovidba will also utilise Marlink’s Unified Threat Management (UTM) solution to enhance the cyber resilience of its vessel operations.
Marlink will leverage its experience as a managed services provider to integrate LEO Starlink internet with traditional VSAT, managed by its XChange platform to enhance options available for business applications and improving connectivity available for crews.The solution provides Tankerska Plovidba with numerous benefits including:
High bandwidth, low latency communications to support digitalised fleet operations;
Enhanced cyber security including application control, web filtering, intrusion protection and anti-virus cyber solutions and firewalling;
Secure access for crew to welfare and entertainment services and improved contact with friends and family;
Tankerska Plovidba became the controlling shareholder of Atlantska Plovidba at the end of 2024, bringing together a combined fleet of product tankers and bulk carriers. The company has a strong ESG strategy, which makes every employee a partner in the company with a voice in its operation and crew investment programs. The provision of Starlink LEO internet access continues this commitment, enhancing access to crew welfare services.
“Just as Tankerska cares for its seafarers we take care to ensure that our vessels are equipped with state-of-the-art technology for enhanced safety and environmental protection,” says Ivan Pupovac, Member of the Management Board, Tankerska Plovidba. “Working with Marlink means we can deploy technology that strengthens our fleet operations and supports our crews in their daily working lives onboard ship.”
“Marlink has made significant progress in supporting shipowners by providing access to higher quality ICT solutions using our possibility platform to simplify the adoption process,” said Tore Morten Olsen, President, Maritime, Marlink. “By understanding Tankerska Plovidba’s needs for quality, security and enhanced connectivity options we are able to unlock opportunities and deliver tangible service enhancements.”
