Northrop Grumman to equip Paraguay with advanced air surveillance radar

Northrop Grumman Corporation will supply its AN/TPS-78 Advanced Capability (ADCAP) ground-based long-range air surveillance radars to Paraguay through the US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program, marking Paraguay’s first-ever FMS partnership with the US. This acquisition enhances Paraguay’s air surveillance capabilities, providing the ability to precisely detect and track manned and unmanned aircraft within its national airspace.

During a recent meeting with Paraguayan President Santiago Pena, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed Paraguay’s acquisition of the Northrop Grumman radar, the economic benefits of the agreement, and its support of Paraguay’s counter narcotics and counter weapons trafficking missions.

Built on more than 60 years of company experience in high-performance radars, the long-range AN/TPS-78 ADCAP is fielded worldwide. Operating in the S-band frequency to reduce bandwidth interference, the system delivers superior performance in highly cluttered environments. The stacked beam architecture allows it to detect high- and low-altitude targets in all weather conditions. Its compact system size is designed for reliability and mobility, providing an easily transportable solution with low-cost logistics.
