SpacePath Communications, a division of ETL Systems, has introduced its highest power standalone C-band BUC/SSPA utilising the latest Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology.
The powerful outdoor SSPA is suited for replacing aging indoor TWTAs, enabling service providers to eliminate long waveguide runs by installing high-power amplifiers closer to the antenna. The solid-state amplifier’s compact size and power capacity makes it ideal for operators to free-up valuable indoor rack space. An indoor rack mount version is also available that is only 8RU high, making this device significantly smaller than older generations of TWTA.
The GaN BUC/SSPA delivers 1.5 kW Psat within a small form-factor, weighing just 56kg, and boasts high thermal efficiency with a mean time between failure (MTBF) rating designed for mission-critical applications, where reliability is essential. Additional features include best-in-class RF performance, RF sample port, true RMS power measurements and flexible monitor/control capabilities.
Colin Bolton, director of business development, SpacePath Communications, said: “The 1.5 kW amplifier enables operators to replace their indoor amplifiers and benefit from the high power and performance of solid-state technology, while saving significant prime power and freeing up space. The reliability of
GaN-based amplifiers also delivers a lifetime of exceptional performance together with lower capital and operating expense.”
SpacePath’s high performance uplink amplifiers cover all mission-critical segments including high-throughput satellite (HTS), mobile satellite, fixed-earth stations and military satellite communications.
